The clouds gather and Lisa realises that her love for Salai may well bring trouble to them both. She has no regrets though for following her heart

With Totto's threat Salai and Lisa face the full realisation of what their affair will do to their lives

A drunken Bastiano rants at the moon and reflects how life in Florence has changed - and not for the better

Totto has 'eyes and ears' everywhere. It doesn't take him long to work out Salai's plan

Salai has told Leonardo about the Totto and Lisa problem, and Leonardo blames himself. He determines that somehow he will rescue the situation

Totto tells Aragona about Salai and Lisa. She doesn't want to believe him but...

Francesco storms in and accuses the lovers. They deny it and Leonardo tries to defend them

A crazed Totto stabs Aragona through the heart

Aragona is dead. Leonardo tells Salai and Lisa they must not see each other again
